Travel FAQ's

What documents are necessary when taking a cruise?

Valid passports are needed for all of those who are traveling. Passports must be valid past 6 months of expiration date. Passports must have at least 4-6 blank pages. Full World Cruises require at least 15-20 blank pages. Local post offices can complete your passport forms for new and renewals.

Will I need a Visa?

Cruise lines and tour operators will advise if a Visa is required.

Do I need travel insurance?

Travel insurance is strongly recommended. We offer travel insurance with Allianz and Travel Guard and are happy to send you a quote.

Do I need to be inoculated?

Yellow Fever Inoculation are only required in limited countries. Specific details are given at time of booking your cruise.

Is bug spray a necessity?

Deet bug spray is recommended in tropical locations. Plan ahead when purchasing. Bug Spray is a seasonal item in many states.

What should I pack?

Less is better. Cruises are much more casual. You can leave your tuxedos and formal gowns home. Light comfortable slacks for gents, and long skirts, Capri’s or slacks for women when visiting temples and churches. Always bring along a scarf to cover shoulders. A small hand fan will always come in handy in the hot tropic areas.

Will I get seasick?

With the way the ships are designed now there is very little movement. All ships have stabilizers. Many times you don't even realize you have left port until you look out the window. The new seasickness pills are wonderful and all luxury cruise lines have them available at the front desk. If you are overly sensitive to movement, it would be a good idea to take a pill before the ship leaves port. There are also pressure point wrist bands that work very well.

What currency should I bring and how much do I need?

Visa and Master Cards are the best currency to have with you if you are going to be making purchases abroad. American Express is not excepted everywhere. Always call your Credit card company before you leave the country to alert them that you will be using your card abroad. They will want to know what countries and the ports you will be traveling too. There is nothing worse then making a purchase and having your credit card denied. It is also good idea to have with you 2 different credit cards. When flying into a foreign country you can change your US dollars into the current currency. I always recommend having some of the local money with you for small purchases and incidentals.

How soon before the ships departure can we board and what if I miss the departure?

On the day of embarkation you typically can board the ship at 12 noon. If the ship is do to leave port on embarkation day at 5pm, make sure you are at the pier by 3pm. While on board and stopping at the ports of call, before you debark the ship you will be instructed as to the time you need to be back on board. All of our Final Documents include an emergency telephone if you will be late when embarking the ship. Keeping the cruise line informed is very important.

Is tipping customary and how much?

Tipping will vary from Cruise Lines. Luxury Cruise Lines typically include all gratuities. If you feel someone has gone out of their way to make your cruise more enjoyable and extra gratuity will always be welcomed, but is not expected. It is important not to forget to local tour guides when you are out on tour. $2 per person for a 1/2 day tour to the guide, $5 per person for a full day tour. Any left over local currency is always a nice gesture to the bus driver.
